Amazone Introduce New Trailed Cultivators - July 2004

The range of Catros compact disc harrows has now been expanded to include two trailed versions in 5.5m and 7.5m working widths.

The major technological difference compared to the mounted version of the Catros is that these new trailed machines feature a new integrated running gear with 800mm diameter wedge ring roller tyre. These tyres fulfil the functions of reconsolidation and depth control as well as transportation, thus rendering a separate transport axle unnecessary and one fitted with a novel braking system ensuring road legal transportation at all times. This results in a shorter and more compact machine compared with other cultivators and optimises the machine weight. The staggered arrangement of the running gear also guarantees a uniform working depth, making the Catros ideal for shallow stubble work in the first pass after harvesting and seed bed preparation.

The 5.5m version, requiring around 170hp, comes with 44 discs and the 60 disc,   7.5m machine can be worked in the 240hp bracket. Both machines have an easy two segment folding mechanism and fold to less than 3m for transport.

The first machines are now undergoing field-testing in the UK and Germany.

The 7.5m version will be on show at Tillage this year, as will be the new 3m Cenius cultivator, the 4m Cirrus min-till drill, the AD-P Special pneumatic drill combination and the Primera direct drill.
