Market Research raises money for Cancer appeal

PRESS RELEASE     30 April 2003

Farmers help Cancer Research UK

Farmers and contractors from across the UK have helped raise over £1700 for Cancer Research UK, by simply sparing a few minutes of their precious time. An independent research survey was carried out amongst Amazone and Krone customers in February 2003. For every farmer or contractor that participated, Amazone donated  £5 to Cancer Research UK.

A total of 345 farmers and contractors answered questions about the size and types of farming they carried out as well as about the machinery they used. Results gave enlightening information about customers' buying habits and the research process they undertake. Not surprisingly, the survey indicated that the least amount of research is carried out when a piece of kit is replaced in season, but when a new piece of machinery is required for a new venture, research is extensive. The findings showed that farmers are relying less on one or two of the major shows/exhibitions but are increasingly using the internet to gather information and peer group opinion.

A cheque for £1725 was donated to Corporate Fundraiser, Greg Oldfield, of Cancer Research UK by Kevin Ridley, General Manager of Amazone UK at ? on ?. Greg was also treated to a ride on Krone's Big M self-propelled mower. Greg said, "This was a great idea by Amazone - not only did they get the marketing information they needed, but they are helping us fund research into the causes, prevention and treatment of the UK's biggest killer of under 85s. A big thank you to Amazone and all the farmers/contractors who took part."
