Amazone’s recently held Groundcare conference drew dealer staff in from far and wide. With an agenda that covered a review of the previous twelve months with regard to the development and success of the Amazone Groundcare brand, a look at how the business would expand in 2012 plus some exciting new products to have a go with on Styrupp Hall's driving range prior to IOG Saltex next month.

2010/2011 has been a time for implementing systems for Amazone Groundcare with the business now becoming virtually completely web based with on-line parts identification and ordering, its own on-line video station; amazone.tv, an on-line product and service download Portal and on-line warranty submissions. And this will continue in 2012 with the expansion of Profihopper.com, a website dedicated to Amazone’s zero turn self-propelled mower collector, plus from a dealership aspect, the introduction of a new on-line machine configurator and ordering Portal.

Having heard what was round the corner for the paperwork, the excitement then moved on outside to what is new in the machine world ahead of IOG Saltx 2011. Fresh from its double silver medal success at the recent Demopark show, Amazone Groundcare dealers from around the country had a chance to see the new products from themselves. Designated i for Intelligent, the two new Profihopper models making their debut at Styrrup Hall GC were the two-wheel drive Profihopper iDrive and its big brother, the Profihopper 4WDi.

The Profihopper concept of a horizontal flail rotor throwing into a cross auger to be brought to the centre of the cutting deck before being augered up into the collection hopper has been established now since 1997, and remains unique in the market, but the new i models now come with PowerCompactor that takes the cut material away from the rotor even faster, with now double the transfer potential; the result is that much faster forward speeds are now possible when mowing. To keep up with the mower’s new speedy performance, then there maybe need for extra traction and drive and this is where the new 4WDi comes into its own, but intelligent enough to be only in four-wheel drive when required. The hydrostatic system sensors load in the circuit, plus the angle of the steering, to then send oil to the rear wheels, either left or right, or both, depending on demand to either steer the vehicle round on the corners or to add extra driving power when necessary.

Although the new iDrive and 4WDi models now feature a steering wheel in place of the fmailiar turning levers, the Profihopper has lost none of its impressive maneouvrability with the 0-radius turning circle being maintained by clever hydraulics.

So with IOG Saltex looming on the horizon, Amazone's Groundcare dealers went away with a desire to get out there and demonstrate to both professional grass contractors, private homes, local authorities, sports pitches, and the rest of the green space maintenance world in general, the impressive credentials offered by the Profihopper 4WDi.
