Amazone launch new Catros compact disc harrow
30 July 2010
With the Catros compact disc harrows the normal barrier to working at wider widths is down to the limitations of tractor lift capacity as the light draft requirement of the twin row concave disc cultivator means that, once in the field, little horsepower is required. The new hydraulic folding bogey axle running gear now available on the Catros 4001-2, 5001-2 & 6001-2 means that work rates can be increased without incurring increased diesel consumption by being able to utilise the wider machines on smaller tractors.
An additional "plus" is the increased flexibility in operation, because depending on the prevailing field conditions the machine can be equipped with a choice of cage, tooth packer, tandem or wedge ring rollers.
Even at high operational speeds these new compact disc harrows travel nice and smoothly, because, during operation, the running gear folds completely over the centre frame. This is in direct comparison where, as often is the case with such machines, the axle is just lifted behind the machine and so, in addition with the Catros-2T, the extra weight of the bogey axle increases the soil penetration of the machine.
The standard execution of the new compact disc harrows includes, in addition to its integrated bogey chassis, a cat. III drawbar on the lower linkage and road traffic lights. The main frame is equipped with two disc rows where the diagonally opposed concave discs are mounted on sprung rubber buffer blocks to ensure perfect adaptation to the soil contours and offer overload protection. The discs are provided with maintenance free bearings. The adjustment of the disc stagger is achieved via the easy to handle offset slide.
With this supplement to the programme, Amazone now offers 13 models of compact disc harrow with working widths of 3.0 to 7.5 m. All Catros compact disc harrows, mounted or trailed, are ideally suited for a fast, shallow and intensive mixing of stubble and volunteer grain and weed seeds and operate blockage free even with large amounts of surface straw. Seedbed preparation, the sowing of catch crops or the incorporation of liquid manure means the Catros offers additional flexibility in use.
